Very rarely does an event like this event live up to the hype generated by the streets. This one did. There were some rumblings that Mel “The Executioner” was going to stop playing in New York and concentrate on local tournaments in Jersey. This led some to think he wanted to back out. Then there was their match up at the Entertainers All Star game which was thrown away because it was an a meaningless game. The stage was set and “A Butta” does know how to play when the bright lights are on. In fact he made the most dramatic entrance that streetball has seen in many years. He led his daughter Andriana through the park while she sported a pink electric Escalade truck and waved to the crowd like a beauty queen riding in a homecoming float.
Unfortunately, that would be the only good thing that happened for the young brazen guard on this night.
The night belonged to “The Executioner” He outscored “A Butta” 13-3 but scored on 4 straight lay ups which convinced the crowd who was the victor. We must say that A Butta does have a high ankle sprain which he did not divulge to the crowd but he let me know earlier in the week. He must be given credit for playing through the pain and giving it his all. He is a warrior in his own right. The game on the other hand was anything from one sided. World Champion Laker forward Ron Artest walked in the park ready to do battle and helped Most Hated stay in the game and actually tied the game with 26 seconds with a lay in and a foul. Baby Shaq added a monster game. It all came down to a last possession for Ooh Way Records. ‘The Executioner” dribbled the clock down to five seconds before he made his move he stopped and popped in the lane, the shot off but was put back by Rob Lewin with no time remaining. This was the best of Streetball, it was a magical night.
Here is Mel “The Executioner” Credle after the game talking about the match up.

This was by far the greatest entrance by far this summer, all we needed was some fireworks at the gate!
